I have a student at Bates - they all study a decent amount but grading seems to be fair. Some classes are more rigorous than others, of course. I think it just really depends on the professor/class. It's bad because, presumably, you'll get lower grades at that school than if you went to another school even if you submit the same level of quality work with the same amount of effort.
