Bogarin trail is rainforest that was re-started and developed from swamp land in 2000 when the Bogarin family decided to preserve a piece of land for the wildlife around La Fortuna. The trails are 1.5 miles long and flat so they are easily accessible to anyone. My husbans and I were fortunate to have William Bogarin as our nature guide.

The 1968 Trail was a "moderate" hike and nice adventure through the lower portion of the Arenal volcano. We stayed at Volcano Lodge, and the trip from there was about 15 km or so. Very easy to spot with road signs and our iPhone. The cost was $18/person. There were very clean bathrooms onsite at the base of the trail.We enjoyed our tour of Bogarin Trail very much! William was a very knowledgeable guide and showed us SO many creatures and plants and gave us great history of the area. He was also very experienced in how to get the best photos of the creatures he showed us, while at the same time, not getting too close (most photos are taken through a scope).

It was only our second day in Costa Rica so Bogarin Trail was a great introduction to the nature and wildlife in this country. Eduardo was extremely knowledgeable, has an amazing eye for animals, and served us fresh pineapple at the end and seemed genuinely interested in chatting and getting to know us better.
