Jun 7, 2010 · Been searching but i can't find it so i'll ask. I'm using a getrag 260 with my m50 and i want to replace the rear main seal and the pilot bearing while the engine is out. I read somwhere that you have to use a different pilot bearing, is that true? oR i can i just use the one out of an e36? I'm talking about the tiny bearing in the back of the ... I was under the impression that all E30 Getrag 260/5 did have the plastic cap, and the one-piece-metallic was used in E34 Getrag 260/6 and others. So then you might encounter the one-piece-metallic on late E30's then. Took off the pressure plate, then re-aligned the clutch and the tranny slid in like butter. Hooked up the shift linkage and driveshaft. Just for people's future information, I used a Getrag 260 on the M50 with the e36 Dual Mass Flywheel, e36 clutch kit and pressure plate, e36 throwout and pilot bearings. By looking at the part numbers, there seems to be two different sized output shafts in the m30 trans. Make sure you have the right size/year. The larger m20 output flange uses the the same part number
