Well, I took the plunge and ordered a LRB receiver James River Armory M14. I happened to be in Baltimore so I called JRA and stopped by before ordering. They were very generous with their time and I learned a lot about the M14. While there is a great deal left for me to learn, I feel great about the purchase. JRA makes some very fine rifles.

I did not know this until I was talking to some interested passers-by at SHOT and I said they were hammer forged.I made a post on here a while ago about my James River Armory M14 not being able to extract spent brass due to how rough the chamber was. Well after sending it in and them "fixing" it it still can't get through a full mag, and now theres spent brass permanently stuck in the chamber.

That being said, I have a regular JRA M14 and I wouldn't trade it for one of the welded ones. I think the real M14 heal is cool for a collector, but as a shooter I like the solid, one piece forging of my receiver.
